Now that we know what Biofilms in a swimming pool are, we've got to get rid of them! And since they're very difficult to kill, we've got to remove them and prevent their regrowth.
Biofilms can be treated, removed and prevented. There are 2 Ways to remove biofilms: Mechanically and Chemically. Just as you brush your teeth & use toothpaste and mouthwash to remove, treat & prevent biofilms on your teeth and in your mouth, you need to perform similar routines with your swimming pool.
Mechanically. Biofilms can be removed physically (mechanically) by brushing, wiping and vacuuming. In cases of heavy biofilm that have "become" Whiter Water Mold or Pink Slime, I would strongly recommend that you consider throwing out the pad or brush if the pad or brush itself cannot be thoroughly cleaned.
The only problem is that this method only removes visible Biofilms and not Biofilms trapped in impossible to reach places like pipelines, light niches, and inside the filter system.
Chemically. The second method is removing and preventing Biofilms chemically by using AquaFinesse Pool Water Care Tablets. AquaFinesse works to treat, remove and prevent Biofilm growth throughout the entire pool system; pool, plumbing lines, filter, literally everywhere.

A second product that we recommend, after the "heavy" biofilm has been removed, is Naturally Pure from Natural Pool Products. Naturally Pure is a powerful & natural enzyme product that will consume (through a natural process called catalytic bio-oxidation) the removed biofilm instead of clogging up your pool's filter system.
Naturally Pure also contains probably the most powerful phosphate removing ingredient currently available. Naturally Pure does not use lanthanum (a Chinese mineral), but instead uses an American mined, mineral with superior phosphate removing capabilities.
We've found that a One-Two punch of AquaFinesse Pool Tablets followed by Naturally Pure is a great combination to easily & effectively remove, treat & prevent biofilms.
