Spa Water Chemistry is the key that most spa & hot tub owners think is the most important.
But remember that Water Chemistry is just ONE of the SIX keys to good spa care.
All of the keys work synergistically (together) to give you the best hot water experience. You can't simply rely on your spa chemicals to maintain good (or great) hot tub water. You need to be aware of Circulation, Filtration, Cleaning, Water Testing & a periodic Purge, Drain & Refill.
When it comes to spa water chemistry, you have quite a selection of choices of products. There's chlorine, bromine, biguanides, Pristine Blue, ionizers, ozone & more. You've got to figure out what's best for you & your family.
Hopefully I can help make this a bit simpler.
Simply remember that there are 4 parts to Spa & Hot tub Water Chemistry:
1. Maintain a constant, proper level of Sanitizer. Whether it's chlorine, bromine, Baqua Spa, Pristine Blue or Soft Soak, maintain a proper leve.
2. Shock the spa water. Weekly shocking helps to destroy combined chlorines, unfilterables & other "stuff" that you don't want in your spa water.
3. Enhance the spa water. Use enzymes, borates and/or AquaFinesse to enhance the overall water quality.
4. Maintain good spa water balance. Yes, the pH, total alkalinity, hardness & other parameters are important to test and maintain. Not only for the spa or hot tub & its equipment, but also for you & your health.
