In other words, YES, you do have to regularly & periodically test the water. Never judge the quality & condition of the water by just its looks or odor, although those are both excellent ways to help judge it.
Let's face it, water testing is simple. It doesn't & shouldn't take more than 2 minutes. And in that 2 minutes, you'll learn a lot about how well your spa is doing.
Here's the video:
Yes, it is that simple! And you're checking 3 basic parameters:
1. Sanitizer level. Whatever sanitizer you happen to use to treat your spa or hot tub, you've got to keep the levels right. Too low & bacteria can flourish. Too high, you're wasting money.
2. pH. The pH controls everything. That's really true. Whether it's spa water or your body, pH is important for things to work the way they were designed. Maintain your spa water in the 7.4 to 7.6 range.
3. Other parameters. This includes total alkalinity, water hardness, metals, total dissolved solids (TDS). All of these parameters, plus the pH can have a dramatic effect on the spa, its equipment, the overall water chemistry & especially YOU.
