That news elicits a collective “Yuk!” from the public. Now, new research conducted by the China Agricultural University and Purdue University (Lian et. al, 2014) draws a direct connection between swimming pool urination and potential negative health effects for swimmers. The reasons to discourage peeing in the pool are adding up. Are swimmers listening?

Urine (and other body fluids...) contribute to & even cause chloramines, pool water odor (no kidding!), burning eyes, poor water balance, plus a host of other issues.
Please, PLEASE use the bathroom before entering the pool or spa. But also keep in mind that your body will naturally "leak" a small amount especially when it first hits the water! That's just how our bodies work.
