Sometimes you run into "interesting" pool problems.
The condition may be pretty, but it's hard on feet & fingers and some might say even dangerous.
Typically, pools and spas deal with hard scaling that is contributed to calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate scale is relatively easy to remove and even prevent. But this type of scale is a different issue entirely. This scale caused by calcium sulfate and is NOT simple to treat nor prevent.
Calcium carbonate is relatively naturally occuring, but calcium sulfate typically occurs when higher amounts of sulfur (sulfates and sulfites) are added into the pool via a variety of different products.
