Business is business and personal is personal they say.
Unfortunately (or maybe not) for many of us who are business owners or entrepreneurs, our lives become our businesses and vice versa. The constant struggle to maintain some semblance of order or sanity quickly devolves us into human DOINGS rather than the human BEINGS as God created us to be.
The following posts and pages are what you might want to call the "real" me. In my business life I enjoy problem solving; looking beyond simple fixing the symptoms and instead searching for the root cause of problems. Today's society wants to take a simple pill to correct a problem. That simple pill may actually worsen the situation. Taking the time to examine all the facets not only bring a solution, but potential long term correction is often achieved.
In business life, I also enjoy spending the time with current and new customers to do just that. More often than not, a one sentence swimming pool or hot tub care question cannot be answered with a quick email. There are questions to be asked and symptoms to be probed. There are solutions to be found. There are some teaching moments to be enjoyed.
These pages and posts are different. My business life may be important to me, but what I truly enjoy (after my family) is teaching adult Sunday school. I enjoy teaching because I enjoy the learning that goes along with it. Standing in front a group of your peers adds an extra layer of responsibility and transparency when you are presenting God's Word and His message. These people know me!
To aid my classes and me, I began publishing these lessons on Church History, Doctrine, Apologetics, and Bible Study. It is an ongoing work as God opens my heart and mind to Him.
In addition, you'll also find posts and articles that look at today's society. A little bit of politics. Some lifestyle. Some personal interests.
My purpose in writing (you can call it blogging or whatever you choose) is to put "pen to paper" and extract my thoughts, transforming my thoughts into word pictures. Whether you agree or disagree with my opinions is not important. Years of living; years of experiences have had the power to build and shape various aspects of that life, but also of my thought patterns and dare I say it, wisdom as God has exposed Himself in my world.
Will I amuse you? Possibly. Will my words annoy you? I've been called narrow minded which I will address in a blog of its own in the future. Will I possibly cause you to think? I hope so; life is short. Time is limited. We can "go for the gusto" but sometimes we have to reflect, sit back and wonder: "so what."
On Tuesday, 2 February 2010, my life was forever changed, again, as I became a first time Grandfather.
As I enter this stage, other things and pursuits become vastly more important. I fancy myself more of an "observer" sometimes as compared to a participant. Am I missing something? Often times, just by observing you are actively participating. Nowadays, teaching and writing are key aspects of my life. Sharing with others what you have, be it tangible or intangible, beats hording it any day of the week.
I have been blessed too many times over my life. God has blessed me with circumstances (not necessarily all "good"). With thoughts. With many, many people from literally all over the world. But most of all God has blessed me with Himself.
"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power, and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the Dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all."
1 Chron. 29:11
