"Living by the Book"
I had the pleasure of "teaching" (more like facilitating) this video study series featuring Dallas Theological Seminary professor Dr. Howard G. Hendricks, the pastor to many fine pastors across the United States; including one of mine. This is a great 6 week video series on how to study your Bible.
Let's face it, most of us getting started in this new Christian life often don't have somebody willing to show us the ropes so to speak. We have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, but what do we do next? How do we grow in Christ?
We are admonished and encouraged by many teachers or our pastor or friends to read the Bible, but we don't know how. How or where do we start? What's a good book of the Bible that will "prime" us? The Bible is one of those few books that you don't HAVE to start at the beginning. You can literally start almost anywhere!
The only "problem" with the video series is that it was too short in my opinion (although the new version is greatly expanded and worth a look). The series unfortunately could not have touched on all of the material of the book that it is based upon, "Living by the Book." So what I have done is supplemented the video series with the following notes extracting the high points and augmenting with material directly from the book.
Even if you don't have or can't view the video series, the notes furnished below will get you off to a fine start in your study of God's Word. Whether you are a new believer or have been around the block a few times, it is my prayer that you will finds these study lessons useful in your sanctifying walk with Christ. Use them in a small group or use them in your personal quiet time. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have.
The actual book and video series may be found at the bottom of this post.
