Being Thankful This Year

For many, Thanksgiving is a truly great holiday that kicks off a broader holiday season.

Families and singles are traveling from place to place by any means possible through almost any weather possible to be with loved ones for a long weekend of rest and camaraderie. It's off to grandma's and grandpa's for a family gathering. Students make both planned and surprised visits home. There's a feeling of hustle and bustle, but also of anticipation as we travel about whether it is to the next town over or across the country.

Chick-fil-A's Christian Ties Stir College Opposition

For months now, it seems that Chick-fil-A has been in the news.

All that this company wants to do is provide and sell a good chicken sandwich in a pleasant and clean atmosphere. Nothing more and nothing less.

But because Chick-fil-A is owned by Christians, the Cathy family, they have purposefully chosen to follow God's laws and priniciples.

You will NEVER find a Chick-fil-A open on Sunday. They believe that "honoring the Sabbath" is good for everyone in their sphere of influence: owners, staff and customers. EVERYBODY gets a day off from Chick-fil-A to be with their family, go to church, or whatever they want to do. What's wrong with that?

Christmas Eve Dinner

I love to cook! Trying new recipes or massaging old favorites for a newer twist is fun...

This Christmas Eve was to be spent quietly at home. Our daughter and her family had made it out to their new home in Washington. Thank goodness for Skype!

It was an evening of immediate family, dinner, dessert, quiet conversation then off to candlelight service at church to celebrate the Birth of Our Savior.

The object of the meal was for it to be easy to make and tasty to eat. And having leftovers for a day or two isn't bad either! I want to share our fare with you...
